Memoir-recipe Cookbook

Memoir-recipe project : printed and hand-bound in a limited edition

: Cookbooks are not just full of recipes you can cook at home—each one is also a collection of assorted recipes dealing with style-sheets, call-outs, captions, bulleted & numbered lists, a hierarchy of heads and subheads, epigraphs, attributions, sidebars, footnotes, and et cetera.

As the best cookbooks (and food) come from an inherently personal place (comfort food is a well-named concept) this project also contains a personally expressive writing component in the form of a memoir and a research element for typeface designs which add additional value to the project.

The crafting of a dish is more than the careful selection of ingredients, but also, more importantly, about the harmonization of those ingredients with varied preparation, cooking and presentation techniques. This holds true through the metaphor for design. And, as in both arts, the quality of the end result is a delicate, thoughtful balance of all the elements in the recipe: from subtle background elements to bold features.
